MALLOY AND DANIELS' SWEET DEAL: GOVERNORS ANTE CHOCOLATE ON SUNDAY'S SEMI-FINALS GAME
(HARTFORD, CT) - Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels have regional gourmet chocolate riding on Sunday's Final Four game between the UConn women and Notre Dame.
The Huskies and the Fighting Irish will meet at Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis on Sunday night, and Governor Malloy is betting the #1 Huskies will come out ahead.
"I'm planning on a nice ham dinner, courtesy of the Governor of Kentucky-it will be wonderful to finish it with South Bend chocolate," said Governor Malloy. "The Fighting Irish are a formidable opponent with dedicated fans, but I have confidence that Geno and the UConn women will show them a great game, even if the scoreboard ultimately proves disappointing for Indiana."
"UConn is #1 for good reason, but we don't call them 'Fighting Irish' for nothing. We're looking for a great game," said Governor Daniels.
If the UConn women win, Governor Daniels has offered a selection of gourmet chocolates from the South Bend Chocolate Company, located near the Notre Dame campus.
Should Notre Dame win, Governor Malloy will send a basket of UConn-themed Munson's Chocolate from the famed Connecticut chocolaterie with a shop adjacent to the University's Storrs campus.
Governor Malloy also has a friendly wager with Kentucky Governor Beshear on the Saturday night game. The Governors bet UConn Dairy Bar ice cream and Kentucky country ham on the outcome of the men's game.
The UConn/Notre Dame game begins at 9:30 pm on Sunday night.
