THURSDAY: GOV. MALLOY TO MEET WITH SECRETARY LAHOOD; CONFERENCE CALL WITH REPORTERS TO FOLLOW
(HARTFORD, CT) - Governor Dannel P. Malloy will meet tomorrow morning with Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood to discuss Connecticut's application for a piece of the $2.4 billion in high-speed rail funding released last week. Governor Malloy previously met with Deputy Transportation Secretary John Porcari about this and other transportation issues important to the state.
In addition, Governor Malloy will attend events at the Vice President's house in the early morning, as well as at the White House later tomorrow evening. Both events will provide Governor Malloy with an opportunity to speak directly to Vice President Biden, President Obama and other administration officials about the high-speed rail money.
Governor Malloy will also meet with his newly-appointed Washington office director, Dan DeSimone, to discuss his efforts in Washington going forward.
At 11:30 a.m., Governor Malloy will hold a conference call with Connecticut reporters to update them on his meeting with Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood and his trip to Washington.
