No Child Left Inside® Winter Festival Scheduled for Feb. 5 Canceled
Unsafe Ice Conditions Anticipated; Event Postponed to a Later Date
(HARTFORD)— Due to the current water and slush conditions on the ground at Burr Pond State Park along with the upcoming below freezing temperatures predicted for Torrington, the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) is canceling the No Child Left Inside® 16th annual Winter Festival scheduled for tomorrow, Feb. 5, at Burr Pond State Park.The ice is anticipated to create very difficult conditions for the families, partners, volunteers, and staff who would be attending the event, and safety is at the forefront of this decision. DEEP’s State Parks Division is planning to reschedule the event on another date that is to be determined.
