DEEP headquarters at 79 Elm Street in Hartford has partially re-opened to staff and members of the public as of Tuesday, February 3. The DEEP records room has re-opened. The DEEP Central Permit Processing Unit (CPPU) will be open to the public starting on Wednesday, Feb. 4. For updates, click here

UPDATE: Fatal Boating Accident on Candlewood Lake

On Sunday, October 21, 2018 at approximately 12:30 p.m., Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) Environmental Conservation (EnCon) Police Officers responded to Candlewood Lake in Brookfield for a report of a capsized motorboat with two adult males aboard the vessel.
Joseph Miranda, 29 of Manchester, swam to shore and refused medical treatment. A second male, Gary Hayes, 48 of East Hartford, was located in water, and transported to Danbury Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. 
The accident remains under investigation at this time by EnCon Police.
