DEEP headquarters at 79 Elm Street in Hartford has partially re-opened to staff and members of the public as of Tuesday, February 3. The DEEP records room has re-opened. The DEEP Central Permit Processing Unit (CPPU) will be open to the public starting on Wednesday, Feb. 4. For updates, click here

Fatal Boating Accident on Candlewood Lake

On Sunday, October 21, 2018 evening at 12:30 p.m., Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) Environmental Conservation (EnCon) Police Officers responded to Candlewood Lake in Brookfield for a report of a capsized 17 foot motorboat. Two males were recovered from the vessel. One male is safe and unharmed, a second male was transported to Danbury Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
EnCon is investigating the accident, no further information will be released today.
