Governor Dannel P. Gov. Malloy Announces Connecticut’s Submission for Amazon’s Second Headquarters
Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) Commissioner Catherine Smith today unveiled the State of Connecticut’s proposal for Amazon’s second headquarters, which includes sites in the Hartford and Stamford regions. Last month, Amazon announced that it was seeking a site for a second headquarters – known as “Amazon HQ2” – in North America, which will create tens of thousands of additional jobs.

Malloy and executives from Indeed today announced that the internet company has plans to significantly increase its presence in Connecticut by investing $26.5 million to expand its Stamford offices, where its workforce already exceeds 700 employees. Gov. Malloy Announces Opportunities to Remediate and Revitalize Brownfields in Connecticut
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced the Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) is now accepting applications for its eleventh round of competitive grant funding for the state’s Brownfield Remediation Program, under which the state partners with local municipalities and economic development agencies to put blighted properties back into productive use. Under this round, a total of $4 million will be earmarked for remediation projects and $1 million will be reserved for assessment projects.

Gov. Malloy: Starwood Hotels Worldwide Will Expand in Stamford and Create Jobs for Residents
Governor Dannel P. Malloy, joined by Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) Commissioner Catherine Smith, Starwood executives and other state and local officials, today announced that Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. is expanding its global headquarters in Stamford. Starwood will be creating 340 new full-time jobs in the state, in addition to retaining its current workforce of 980 employees.
