Gov. Malloy Announces New Company Relocating to Connecticut, Adding Over 100 Jobs in Stamford

(HARTFORD, CT) - Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that Deutsch Family Wine & Spirits, an importer and marketer of high-quality wine and spirit brands from around the world, plans to relocate its headquarters from White Plains, New York to Stamford, Connecticut. The relocation will deliver more than 100 new or relocated jobs moving into the state.

"We continue to attract and retain companies like never before - and this is another example of our progress.  We'd like to welcome Deutsch Family Wine & Spirits to Connecticut," Governor Malloy said.  "Progress is no doubt happening, and bringing these jobs to Stamford demonstrates that our state continues to work to attract new companies each and every day."

Deutsch Family is known for identifying brands consumers want most and focusing efforts to maximize their availability and quality.  The company introduced Yellow Tail to this country, and it continues to be the nation's largest imported wine brand.  As a company, Deutsch Family is experiencing impressive and sustained growth and is the fastest-growing wine and spirits company in the country in the $10 to $25 price segment.  Their portfolio includes America's hottest wine brand - Josh Cellars - which was recently named 2015 Marketwatch "Wine Brand of the Year" and has skyrocketed from 30,000 cases four years ago to an expected one million cases of depletions by the end of Deutsch's fiscal year in March 2016.

Exceeding its capacity in the 25,000 square feet it leased in White Plains, Deutsch Family Wine & Spirits searched for alternate facilities in the Westchester and Stamford markets that could meet its physical and operational requirements.  The company determined that the Stamford location at 201 Tresser Boulevard at 43,563 square feet will best accommodate those requirements and position the company for continued growth.

"We're very excited about the move to Stamford and to give our employees the opportunity to work in such a vibrant community with good public transportation, indoor parking and close proximity to restaurants and shopping," Bill Deutsch, Chairman of Deutsch Family Wine & Spirits, said.  "We also greatly appreciate the continued support from Governor Malloy, Catherine Smith and the entire DECD team, which was instrumental in making this project a reality."

"Deutsch Family Wine & Spirits is a well-known name within the industry, and having the Deutsch family here will only encourage others to consider Connecticut for their business operations and expansion," DECD Commissioner Catherine Smith said.  "Their selection of Connecticut is another endorsement of the state's great location, high quality of life, and relative cost advantage."
