About the Department of Consumer Protection

Our mission is to ensure a fair and equitable marketplace, safe products and services for consumers in the industries that we license, regulate and enforce.

We are responsible for protecting citizens from marketplace fraud, unfair business practices, and physical injury from unsafe items. This protection is achieved through licensure, inspection, investigation, enforcement and public education activities in six major areas:

We also administer sixteen professional Boards, Councils and Commissions to review, establish and maintain educational training and examination standards. The Gaming Policy Board works in cooperation with the Gamining division to implement and administer the statutory and regulatory provisions governing legalized gaming.
