Module 6: Facilitation/ Process Improvement

Module Length: 3-days in six weeks

Learning Objectives:

At the completion of this module, participants will be able to:

·   Define what facilitation is and the how and when it is used.

·   Explain the roles, responsibilities, and behaviors of a facilitator.

·   Describe the stages of team development.

·   Given a team scenario, develop an intervention to manage the group dynamics.

·   Describe the framework for designing and leading effective meetings, group planning sessions and other facilitated events, i.e., conducting SWOT analyses; creating and using meeting agendas; effective brainstorming; etc.

·   Describe strategies and techniques to use for developing and maintaining consensus.

·   Given scenarios, demonstrate through role play how to deal with disruptive, difficult meeting behaviors and dominating team members

·   Run effective meetings by using attending, observing, listening, and questioning techniques.

·   Use process improvement and problem solving methods.

·   Practice facilitation using learned tools and methodology.

·   Use tips for putting yourself at ease, gain an increased sense of confidence, and leave energized to take on a greater leadership role within your organization.
