RE:  FY 2011 LAH Supplemental Grant Award Program

Dear Chief,

As part of the state’s Fiscal Year 2011 Budget, $105,000 was appropriated to the Commission on Fire Prevention and Control to administer a supplemental grant award program to support local volunteer fire companies that provide emergency response services on state limited access highways.  This represents an overall reduction of $90,000 from last fiscal years appropriation.

Grant funding in the amount of $652 is now available for each eligible fire company.  Once again you have the option of receiving a check for the total amount or we will credit an account with $652 established in the name of your fire company that may be used to procure any of the following agency services:

Connecticut Fire Academy Calendar/In-service/Contract or Special Training Programs

Testing/Certification Examination Fees

Connecticut Fire Academy Bookstore Training Manuals, Books, Videos, DVD’s, etc.

SCBA Face Piece Fit-testing Services

Apply toward a current open invoice

Please complete the enclosed LAH Supplemental Grant Award Selection Form to designate how we should administer funding on your behalf.  You may submit the form to us via fax or mail no later than September 1, 2010.   

In order for us to close out the agency’s books for the fiscal year, those electing to establish an account to be utilized for agency services, must fully exhaust their credit by June 1, 2011.  Also be aware, credit balances are subject to reductions and or sweeps during the fiscal year as may be enacted by the Governor or General Assembly.  We strongly recommend utilizing your credit as soon as possible.
