Suicide Prevention Week

This week is Suicide Prevention Week, including World Suicide Prevention Day on September 10. Members of the fire and emergency services have a greater risk of many behavioral health concerns such as stress, anxiety, PTSD, addiction, and depression. If left unaddressed, these issues can lead to tragic outcomes, including suicide. The Firefighter Behavioral Health Alliance has received 71 reports of firefighter suicides in 2015 alone.

If you or someone you know needs help, call the free, confidential Fire/EMS Helpline at 1-888-731-FIRE (3473). Learn what you can do to proactively address behavioral health in your department and for yourself with the NVFC's Share the Load program.
