State Water Plan Education and Outreach Workgroup

Formed in 2020, the State Water Plan Education and Outreach Workgroup is tasked with increasing stakeholder and public awareness of the State Water Plan and increase participation in water resource planning, management, and protection in Connecticut. The group hosts educational opportunities to engage stakeholders on current topics related to implementation of the State Water Plan.

The Education and Outreach Workgroup assists the Water Planning Council by providing a critical public facing role and informing and educating water resource leaders, stakeholders, and the general public on the content of the plan. In addition, they work on the State Water Plan implementation, informing agencies, stakeholders, and the public steps they can take to protect and enhance Connecticut's water resources.

The workgroup's theme for 2025 will be Extreme Weather and Our Watersheds. Information will be provided throughout 2025 on floods, heat, and drought, and how these extreme weather events effect the watersheds of Connecticut. More information to come.

The workgroup meets virtually on Zoom the first Tuesday of each month from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. The 2025 meeting schedule is available.

Workgroup contact: Alexandria Hibbard at alexandria.hibbard@ct.gov.
