Beginning May 19th, 2021, mask-wearing rules were relaxed by Governor Lamont and the CT Department of Public Health (DPH) for residents and visitors to Connecticut who are fully vaccinated (14 days have passed since your final dose of the COVID-19 vaccine or single dose of J&J). As of May 6th 2022, the State of Connecticut currently requires masks to be worn in the following locations:
- Schools (if required by local school board or similar authority): Face masks are required to be worn inside PreK-12 public or non-public school buildings only if the local school board or similar local authority requires them.
- Private businesses and state and local governments also have the option of requiring masks to be worn inside of their establishments (this includes places such as private retail stores, government office buildings, correctional facilities, etc.).
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention provides mask guidance that is updated routinely. COVID-19 community levels should impact individual- and household-level prevention behaviors, please visit their website to learn more.
Not everyone you come into contact with will have received the vaccine, and you may still be able to spread COVID-19. It is critical to follow basic public health best practices for the foreseeable future.
