Far below normal precipitation has caused a drought and increased fire danger levels. All of Connecticut is currently in a Stage 2 Drought Advisory. Residents are encouraged to be mindful of water consumption and use extra caution to prevent fires. An emergency burn ban remains in effect at all state parks, forests, and wildlife management areas, prohibiting the use of all outdoor grills, firepits, campfires, etc.

Statement of Stephanie Thomas on the Passing of Quentin "Q" Williams

(Hartford, CT) – Secretary of the State Stephanie Thomas issued the following statement on the tragic death of State Representative Quentin “Q” Williams.

“Today, the people of Connecticut lost an advocate. Q’s unrelenting dedication to creating a more equitable Connecticut for all set the standard for all public officials. I am lucky to have been able to call Q a friend. I will miss his passion and energy and grieve with his family and all who knew him.”
