Secretary Thomas Thanks Election Workers for Overcoming Weather-Related Challenges

(Hartford, CT) – Today, Secretary of the State Stephanie Thomas expressed her gratitude to the election workers who overcame challenges posed by the weather to make yesterday’s special elections possible.

“I’d like to thank the registrars, moderators, and all of the poll workers who braved the snow and the cold weather to make sure the polls opened on time for voters to cast their ballots yesterday,” said Thomas. “Our democracy functions because of you and that work does not go unnoticed.”

West Hartford Registrars of Voters Elizabeth Rousseau and Beth Kyle shared their gratitude for their town’s election workers, some of whom hitched rides on town snowplows to get to the polls.

“There was a lot of preparation and teamwork exhibited by our staff. We’re very grateful for their dedication,” Rousseau and Kyle said. “We owe the West Hartford Department of Public Works a huge thank you for giving rides to poll workers who were snowed in and ensuring that the roads and sidewalks around the polling location were plowed, salted, and safe for electors.”

Thomas also encouraged individuals to help support our elections by registering to be a poll worker for future elections. Those who are interested may sign up using this: Volunteer Poll Worker Form.
