Monday: Secretary Thomas Launches New Public Awareness Initiative "Connect & Cut" in New London with Mayor Mike Passero, Senator Martha Marx, and League of Women Voters of Southeast Connecticut's Kim Blake and Joanne Moore
(Hartford, CT) – On Monday, March 20, Secretary of the State Stephanie Thomas will be at JBS Barber Spa in New London to launch “ConneCT & Cut,” a new public awareness initiative that will showcase communities across Connecticut and their local barber shop (or hair salon). Also in attendance will be New London Mayor Mike Passero, Senator Martha Marx, and Kim Blake and Joanne Moore, Co-Presidents, League of Women Voters of Southeast Connecticut. Secretary Thomas will film the first installment on this day, and it will debut across her social channels at a later date.
Traditionally known as the spots to get the latest town news, trade stories, and share knowledge or advice, the barber shop (or hair salon) will be the setting of each installment of the series, as Secretary Thomas receives a haircut and engages in a one-on-one discussion with the barber (or hairdresser) about issues relevant to voting, elections, the role of elected officials, and how the Office of the Secretary of the State can better serve the residents of Connecticut.
“ConneCT & Cut” will be focused on a selection of towns and cities across the state that represent a broad range of demographics and geographic locations. The Secretary will use the messages from the conversations to increase the public’s civic awareness and help residents to make informed decisions when they vote.
