Secretary Thomas Gives Remarks in Recognition of Poll Worker Appreciation Day

(Greenwich, CT) – Today, Secretary of the State Stephanie Thomas expressed her gratitude to a group of Greenwich election workers in recognition of Poll Worker Appreciation Day.

I can’t express enough the gratitude I have for all of the work you do to keep our democracy functioning,” Thomas said. “From COVID-19, to threats against our elections, to the complicated hand recount you all conducted last year, I cannot commend you enough for your public service.”

The event was organized by the Greenwich Registrars of Voters of both political parties, Fred DeCaro and Mary Hegarty, to celebrate the hard work of their poll workers following the 2022 election. This election was particularly memorable for poll workers due to a hand recount that was conducted for the 36th District State Senate race.

Following hors d'oeuvres and remarks, there was a screening of the recently released documentary about election workers called No Time To Fail. The documentary is a testament to the hard work of election workers during the 2020 election when the COVID-19 and other challenges added so much complexity to the job.
