Secretary Merrill Joins Westport's Staples High School Students on National Voter Registration Day
New voters can register to vote at myvote.ct.gov/register
HARTFORD – Secretary of the State Denise Merrill today joined the Westport Registrars of Voters and students from Westport’s Staples High School to discuss the importance of voter registration and civic engagement and register newly eligible voters.
“Democracy is not a spectator sport. We hope to spark an interest among young people in democratic participation that will keep them engaged as active citizens in the future,” said Secretary Merrill. “Every election official in Connecticut, including the local election officials of both parties in each of our 169 towns, is working to ensure that Connecticut voters can make their voices heard.”
