HARTFORD - Connecticut Secretary of the State Denise Merrill released the following statement in response to the recent poll showing overwhelming, bipartisan support for No-Excuse Absentee Balloting and Early Voting:

"Connecticut voters agree: no one should ever have to choose between their health and their right to vote," said Secretary Merrill. "The consensus is bipartisan - Republicans, Democrats, and Unaffiliated voters all want to be able to participate in the November election while still protecting their health and the health of their neighbors by voting by No-Excuse Absentee Ballot, through Early Voting, or in socially distanced polling places.

"The message is clear, when the legislature goes into special session, they should enshrine in law voters' right to cast an absentee ballot. Legislators should trust the people of Connecticut."
