NASS Election Infrastructure Subsector Government Coordinating Council Members Announced

HARTFORD — Connecticut Secretary of the State Denise Merrill has joined the Election Infrastructure Subsector Government Coordinating Council (EIS-GCC) of the National Association of Secretaries of State (NASS) as an alternate member for 2020-2021.

“Fellow members of the Council and I are working tirelessly to keep our election infrastructure secure from foreign attack,” said Connecticut Secretary of the State Denise Merrill. “In Connecticut, every valid vote cast will be a vote counted.”

The members and alternate members will serve until the conclusion of the Summer 2021 EIS-GCC meeting. The 29 EIS-GCC members, of which 24 are state and local election officials, are working to continue effective communication and provide resources and support to maintain a safe and secure elections process.

“Continuing to improve on election information sharing and coordination is not only necessary, but vital for our nation’s democracy. I’m pleased these bipartisan Secretaries of State have stepped up to participate on the Council and appreciate their willingness to serve,” said NASS President and New Mexico Secretary of State Maggie Toulouse Oli­ver.

Other members of the council include individuals from the National Association of State Election Directors, the Election Center, the International Association of Government Of­ficials, Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the U.S. Election Assistance Com­mission (EAC).
