Connecticut Secretary of the State Denise Merrill Statement on Ouster of Chris Krebs from DHS/CISA
“Chris Krebs is a dedicated public servant whose ouster should be deeply disturbing to everyone who cares about protecting our elections from foreign interference. As the Director of the Department of Homeland Security’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, Director Krebs led our nation’s cybersecurity defenses, including for election infrastructure – he should be rewarded for that good work, not fired.
“His ouster is bad for our country’s election cybersecurity, for our national security, and for the goal of free and fair elections untainted by the interference of foreign adversaries. It is good for our nation’s adversaries however, which raises significant questions about why this move was made, and why it was made now, by a lame-duck administration as it leaves power.”
