Secretary Merrill Receives the Resignation of State Representative Linda Orange
Secretary of the State Denise Merrill last evening received the resignation of State Representative Linda Orange, effective February 1, 2020. The letter of resignation is attached to this release.
Under state law, the governor has ten days from when the 48th district seat becomes vacant to issue a writ of election for a special election. That special election must be held on the 46th day after the issuance of the writ of election. Major party conventions must take place by 36 days before the special election.
