Secretary Thomas Encourages Bridgeport Voters to Go Out to Vote in Tomorrow’s Mayoral Election

(Hartford, CT) – Today, Secretary of the State Stephanie Thomas continues to encourage voters in Bridgeport to vote in the mayoral general election re-do tomorrow, February 27.

“As Black History Month ends and Women’s History Month approaches, there’s no better way to honor those who fought for voting rights for Black Americans and women than by exercising those rights with every opportunity we get,” said Secretary Thomas. “Bridgeport voters – continue to make your voices heard by voting tomorrow.”

The Office of the Secretary of the State remains vigilant in protecting the integrity of the Bridgeport mayoral election. Election Monitors have been installed in the Town Clerk’s office every day, spot-check calls have been made to absentee ballot applicants, video footage of the drop boxes in the City have been reviewed, and several volunteer attorneys will once again be on the ground on Election Day to assist voters. Since February 1, the Office has made three referrals to the State Elections Enforcement Commission (SEEC).

TODAY is the last day for voters to register in-person at the Registrar of Voters’ office for this election. Additional election information may be found at MyVote.ct.gov.

SEEC’s Election Day Hotline (phone: 1-866-733-2463, email: elections@ct.gov) will again be active on election day during polling hours (6 a.m. – 8 p.m.), and members of the public should file a report if they witness or suspect any voter intimidation, wrongdoing or other voting irregularities.
