Deleting a page or content folder

⚠️ Important Note:
Before deleting any content (pages, folders, images, or documents), consider whether the item is linked from other pages or required for legal, compliance, or archival purposes. Removing linked content may result in broken links or missing information on the live site, which can impact user experience, SEO, or legal obligations.

Always review internal policies and consult with your legal or compliance team if you're unsure about whether a content item can be safely deleted.

You can delete a page or content folder in two ways using the Content Editor.

TIP: Before deleting, check if the page or folder is linked to other items using the View Linked Items tool to avoid breaking important references.

Delete From the Content Tree
  1. In the Content Editor, navigate to the page or folder you wish to delete.
  2. Right-click the item item.
Content Editor - Content Tree Delete
  3. Select the Delete icon Delete option.
  4. In the confirmation dialog box, click OK to proceed.
  5. If the Broken Links dialog appears, follow the prompts to relink or remove links as needed.
  6. Publish the parent folder that contained the deleted item to complete the deletion.

NOTE: The page or content folder is deleted from the content tree, but the deletion action still needs to be published. This is done by publishing the folder that contained the deleted file (see step 6.)

From the Ribbon
  1. In the Content Editor, select the page or folder you wish to delete.
  2. Go to the Home tab in the ribbon.
  3. Select the Delete Delete icon icon.

  4. In the confirmation dialog box, click OK to proceed.
If you're deleting a folder, a message will warn you that all sub-items will also be deleted.

  5. If the Broken Links dialog appears, follow the prompts to relink or remove links as needed.
  6. Publish the parent folder that contained the deleted item to complete the deletion.

⚠️ Important: Deleting an item in the Content Editor does not automatically remove it from the live site. You must publish the parent folder to apply the deletion to the live environment.
