TEACH Connecticut (TeachCT) is a free teacher recruitment initiative of The Connecticut State Department of Education that is charged with strengthening our state’s teacher pipeline and providing recruitment support to EPP and LEA partners across the state.
TeachCT is a digital recruitment platform that serves as a one-stop-shop for anyone exploring the teaching profession. Our team is composed of web developers, marketing experts, content creators, and former educators who are all passionate supporters of public education and committed to using their skills to elevate the perception of the teaching profession and support prospective teachers in confidently navigating their path to certification!
What TeachCT Offers LEAs
TeachCT is here to support all things related to teacher recruitment. We are a free resource to districts across the state that can be used to support and expand their teacher recruitment efforts. To support your recruitment efforts, TeachCT provides:
- Free 1-on-1 coaching for those in your district interested in teaching
- Support in identifying non-licensed staff who are interested in teaching in your district through our Career Interest Survey
- Free info sessions on the licensure process and opportunities to speak with teach prep programs
- $100 in financial support to your non-licensed staff to help with the cost of applying to an enrolling in an EPP
- Opportunity to promote your district events on our website and expand its reach
What TeachCT Offers Prospective Teachers
TeachCT is a one-stop-shop for those interested in a career in teaching. We stay up to date on policy changes, EPP offerings, and the needs of prospective teachers to ensure we are providing accurate, relevant, and impactful resources that demystify the steps one needs to take to become a teacher. TeachCT provide the following resources for FREE to aspiring educators:
- Personal 1-on-1 coaching from current Connecticut educators on how to select and apply to a teacher prep program
- $100 in reimbursements to cover the cost of applying to a Connecticut teacher prep program
- Scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $2,500 for those who go on to enroll in an Connecticut EPP
- Virtual events where aspiring educators can hear from and speak directly with EPPs across the state
- Resume and cover letter templates to assist in submitting their applications to teaching roles
FREE Recruitment Support Ideas
Career Interest Survey: Supporting your non-licensed school employees (e.g. paraeducators, substitutes, office staff) in becoming teachers is a great way to “grow your own” by tapping into adults already connected and dedicated to your school community. Use our Career Interest Survey to identify who within your school community is interested in becoming a licensed teacher and connect them to free support that will help them confidently take the next step. You can implement this today by using this toolkit.
Co-host an info session: Co-hosting a virtual info session can be a great way to follow up with those non-licensed staff who completed the survey above and show an interest in teaching! Let’s host an info session about what makes your district special, what opportunities are available, and how to select an EPP.
Share your recruitment events: TeachCT has a database of over 40k users who have all indicated an interest in becoming a licensed Connecticut educator. Expand the reach of your already-planned events by promoting them on our platform. Please share details about your upcoming events with TeachCT.
Tell us about your upcoming career/college fairs: Do you have an upcoming college or career fair? We can create custom materials to share with students and/or staff to let them know about how we can support them in their journey to licensure! We can also attend events virtually to speak with groups of potential future teachers.
Leverage our EPP partnerships: TeachCT has strong relationships with EPPs across the state. Do you have a group of students and/or staff that want to learn more about a particular EPP? Let’s meet and brainstorm how we can connect your non-licensed staff or budding young educators with colleges/universities/institutions that can support them! Schedule a time to meet with Jayson-Ann.
