CSDE IRC Application
The Connecticut State Department of Education (CSDE) and the Office of Workforce Strategy (OWS) are collaborating to develop and maintain the CSDE Credential Registry of approved non-degree industry recognized credentials (IRCs).
A non-degree Industry Recognized Credential (IRC) is a certification that validates an individual’s knowledge, skills, and competencies within a specific industry. Developed, offered, or endorsed by nationally or regionally recognized industry associations or organizations representing a substantial portion of the industry sector, IRCs set industry standards and serve as benchmarks for employers. It also enhances employability and supports professional growth.
This Registry is your gateway to building stronger connections between education and workforce needs. By offering consistency and transparency in the education-to-career pipeline, we empower school districts, employers, and institutions of higher education (IHEs) to work together seamlessly. The listed IRCs help public school districts guide students toward meaningful, real-world career pathways, while ensuring employers have access to a skilled talent pool. At the same time, IHEs can align their programs with workforce demands, boosting student employability through IRC attainment.
The CSDE IRC Application must be submitted by March 30 at 5:00 pm EST to be considered for the upcoming academic year (July 1 - June 30).
