Purpose of Title I Committee of Practitioners
Members of the Educational community in Connecticut eligible participate in the Title I Committee of Practitioners are required to demonstrate a commitment to attending meetings, deepening their understanding of the Title I and the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, and are willing to providing ongoing feedback on Title I programs, and support in “monitoring its implementation”. In addition, members of the team come from a variety of settings and backgrounds, and must possess skills, knowledge, and unique perspectives in support of the goals. These include, but are not limited to:
- Planning and implementing a Title I programs;
- School improvement and/ or strategic planning experience;
- Communication, Program evaluation, project management experience;
- Experience teaching or working with public or non-public school students in K-12 settings, or working with youth or educators as a community partner in a professional capacity;
- Knowledge of federal and state law;
- Experience supporting students with homelessness;
- Expertise in educational programming and standards;
- Background in accounting and finance, or federal grant management;
- Parenting/ caregiving experience; and/ or
- Capacity to engage families in school settings.
