Introduction to Command & General Staff
The Commission on Fire Prevention and Control is pleased to be able to present the Department of Homeland Security, FEMA, National Fire Academy Course:
"Introduction to Command and General Staff" in an on-line format.
Successful completion of this course is required prior to a student taking the following NFA Resident programs:
Command & General Staff Functions in ICS
All-Hazards Incident Management Training
All materials required for the course are presented in Portable Document Format (pdf) for ease of use. Materials may be viewed on screen or downloaded dependant upon personal preference.
Irrespective of whether the student chooses to view the materials on screen or to download them, it is very important that all materials be thoroughly reviewed prior to completion and submittal of the final examination. While it is a lengthly document of 286 pages and 1.6MB in size, the student may wish to download and print the Field Operations Guide, ICS 420-1, as it is used for this course, for the 6 day resident course, Command and General Staff Functions in the Incident Management System, and as a reference tools for the final examination.
The document "Using This Course" listed below will give the student instruction as to how to utilize the course materials.
It is important to note that the student must download and complete the NFA Application 75-5A (link below) and submit it and their final examination answer sheet to the address listed in the "Using This Course" document.
