Welcome to the Connecticut Office of the Victim Advocate (OVA)

Victims of crime have certain rights. These rights are guaranteed by the State Constitution and CT General Statutes.

The Office of the Victim Advocate (OVA) protects and enforces the rights of crime victims in Connecticut. To carry out this mission, we:

  • Investigate complaints of victims’ rights being violated
  • Advocate for victims in court
  • Monitor services rendered by state and private agencies
