Philip Zecher

Dr. Philip Zecher is Michigan State University’s Chief Investment Officer, overseeing its $4.6 billion endowment. Zecher was tapped to start MSU’s investment office in 2016 and under his leadership the endowment has risen to one of the top performing university endowments, leading him to be named one of the top endowment CIOs by multiple organizations. His insights have frequently appeared in Bloomberg News, Pension and Investments, Financial Times FundFire, and other leading financial news outlets. Before starting MSU’s investment office, Zecher was partner and chief risk officer of the Connecticut based currency hedge fund, EQA Partners. In 1999 Zecher co-founder Investor Analytics, a New York City based risk advisory firm focused on the hedge fund and fund-of-funds industry. Investor Analytics was an early fintech innovate as the first risk advisory firm to provide risk analytics as software-as-a-service via the internet. In 2014, Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont appointed Zecher chair of the Connecticut State Investment Advisory Council, which advises the State Treasurer on investments for the state’s $60 billion pension. Zecher also serves as the President of the MSU Research Foundation, is a board member of the Social Science Research Council, and as a trustee of Schoonmaker Foundation. Dr. Zecher received his Ph.D. in nuclear physics from MSU.
