Chris Murphy

Chris Murphy currently serves as a Senior Managing Director and Head of the Private Equity Group at Hartford Investment Management. He is responsible for developing and executing the Private Equity Group’s strategy, including building the firm’s sponsor network and asset allocation. Murphy leads private equity direct co-investments and fund investments and has been an observer on over 20 portfolio company boards and over 50 private equity fund advisory boards. He is a member of the Private Equity Investment Committee and previously was a member of the Middle Market Debt and Strategic Ventures Investment Committees. Prior to joining the firm, Murphy spent several years at the strategic investing arm of The Hartford Property and Casualty operations as a Director, where he focused on making investments into growth companies. Previously, Murphy was a Vice President of Corporate Finance at Needham & Company focused on advising growth companies in a variety of industries. He was also a member of the Corporate Development group at Rockwell Collins. Murphy received his MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and his BA in Economics from Amherst College.
