• 11/19/2024 OHS Releases Study Assessing Behavioral Health Parity in Connecticut

  <span>Behavioral health disorders impact a growing number of children and adults in Connecticut and across the country.  The Connecticut Office of Health Strategy has released the findings of a study conducted to assess the impact of specific factors impacting the accessibility of behavioral health services. </span>

• 11/14/2024 Office of Health Strategy Prioritizes Maternal and Infant Health, Birthing Center Study in Agreement with Johnson Memorial Hospital

  The Connecticut Office of Health Strategy (OHS) and Johnson Memorial Hospital have reached an agreement designed to prioritize maternal and infant health and study the need for a new birthing center in the hospital’s service area.

• 11/4/2024 OHS Report Documents Progress of Alternative Payment Models in Connecticut Healthcare

  The Connecticut Office of Health Strategy (OHS) has published a new report showing Connecticut’s progress in adopting new ways of paying for health care.  Alternative payment models promote greater value - including higher quality care, equity and cost efficiency – for patients, purchasers, payers and providers.

• 10/29/2024 OFFICE OF HEALTH STRATEGY PUBLISHES TOP OUTPATIENT DRUG COST INFORMATION: Enbrel®, Otezla® Top List

  The Connecticut Office of Health Strategy (OHS) has published the annual Top Outpatient Prescription Drug summary report and list. Six drugs were included on the final list and make up approximately 3.1% of all retail commercial and Medicaid prescription drug spending, representing almost $175 million (data does not include drug rebates).

• 10/3/2024 Statement: Office of Health Strategy Approves Independent Birthing Center Study with Windham Hospital, Protects Maternal and Infant Health

  Guidehouse, Inc. will launch an independent study of the need for a birthing center in the Windham hospital catchment area next week under the terms of an agreed settlement between the Office of Health Strategy (OHS) and Windham Hospital.

• 9/19/2024 OHS Updates REL Standards Includes Disability

  Connecticut’s Office of Health Strategy (OHS) released an updated version of its standards for the collection of Race, Ethnicity, Language (REL), and Disability (REL-D) data. The update, released as Version 4.0 of the standards OHS initially launched in 2022, introduces significant enhancements to advance health equity and improve healthcare outcomes for Connecticut residents.

  (HARTFORD, CT) - The Connecticut Office of Health Strategy and Department of Social Services announced today that the U.S. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMMI) has selected Connecticut to participate in a new, voluntary, state total cost of care model: the States Advancing All-Payer Health Equity Approaches and Development Model (AHEAD Model).

  (Hartford, CT) – On Tuesday, June 25, 2024 the Office of Health Strategy (OHS), hosted an informational hearing on Connecticut’s Healthcare Benchmark Initiatives. The initiatives play a key role in improving the health of state residents by ensuring access to high-quality affordable health care. OHS released three reports central to the initiative’s mission in May including the Healthcare Cost Growth Benchmark, Quality and Primary Care Spending Target reports.

• 5/23/2024 CONNECTICUT HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES AGENCIES HOST FIRST SOCIAL DETERMINANTS OF HEALTH SUMMIT

  (Hartford, CT) – On Wednesday, May 22, 2024 the Office of Health Strategy (OHS), along with several of Connecticut’s health and human services agencies hosted a Social Determinants of Health Summit at the Chrysalis Center in Hartford, CT. This first ever statewide summit convened community-based social services agencies and healthcare organizations, community, and state agency leaders to discuss collaboration and alignment on efforts to address social determinants of health and improve health outcomes. According to the National Institutes of Health, social determinants of health (SDoH), such as financial resources and housing stability, account for between 30–55% of people’s health outcomes.
