Governor Lamont Reminds Residents During the July 4 Holiday: If You See Something, Say Something

Connecticut’s 24/7 Homeland Security Tip Line is 1-866-HLS-TIPS

(HARTFORD, CT) – As the Fourth of July holiday approaches, Governor Ned Lamont is reminding people in Connecticut to be aware of their surroundings and if they see something suspicious, say something by contacting authorities.

“We want everyone to have fun and enjoy the upcoming holiday, but keeping citizens safe is our number one priority,” Governor Lamont said. “The public is an important partner in our efforts to protect our homeland security. As always, we encourage everyone to be aware of your surroundings, recognize when something looks out of place, and notify law enforcement authorities immediately if you witness any suspicious activity.”

Connecticut’s Homeland Security Tip Line can be contacted via telephone at 1-866-HLS-TIPS (1-866-457-8477), via email at ctic@ct.gov, and via the web at www.ct.gov/demhs/sar.

If immediate attention is necessary, people should call 9-1-1 and inform the operator about what they saw and what struck them as concerning.

The state’s homeland security mobile app – “CT SAFE” – can also be downloaded for free in the Apple App store and the Google Play store.
