CSDE Industry Recognized Credentials (IRC) Registry

Welcome to the CSDE Credential Registry, a curated list of industry recognized credentials and authorizing organizations.

An Industry Recognized Credential (IRC) is a certification that validates an individual’s knowledge, skills, and competencies within a specific industry. Developed, offered, or endorsed by nationally or regionally recognized industry associations or organizations representing a substantial portion of the industry sector, IRCs set industry standards and serve as benchmarks for employers. It also enhances employability and supports professional growth.

This Registry is your gateway to building stronger connections between education and workforce needs. By offering consistency and transparency in the education-to-career pipeline, we empower school districts, employers, and institutions of higher education (IHEs) to work together seamlessly. The listed IRCs help public school districts guide students toward meaningful, real-world career pathways, while ensuring employers have access to a skilled talent pool. At the same time, IHEs can align their programs with workforce demands, boosting student employability through IRC attainment.

It is important to note that while the registry strives for comprehensive reporting, there may be other credentials and authorizing organizations that are not included on this list. The CSDE acknowledges that the landscape of IRCs is extensive and ever-evolving. New credentials will be added to this list through an application process.

Requesting the addition of a credential to the CSDE Credential Registry requires completion of the designated CSDE IRC Application, submitted by April 30 of each year. Stakeholder input is invaluable in creating a resource that meets the needs of students, educators, IHEs, and the business and industry sectors.

To maintain the accuracy and relevance of the CSDE Credential Registry, updates will be made annually prior to the start of each school year. Users are encouraged to stay informed about any changes or additions by accessing the updated Registry in the spring.

The CSDE appreciates participation and commitment to aligning with Connecticut's workforce and education goals. Together we are shaping a future where education and careers connect with purpose! Please contact us at SDE.IRC@ct.gov with questions.
