This Snapshot provides an overview of the data available in the Connecticut All-Payer Claims Database (APCD). The CT APCD Snapshot offers a quick and easy way to explore how healthcare is being delivered and consumed across the state.
Using the CT APCD Snapshot’s dashboards, you can quickly explore what data is available from participating health plans, including how many people had insurance coverage from year to year, which medical procedures were being performed, and which drugs were being prescribed most often – and what all of this costs for health plans and consumers. (For an explanation of terms used in the Snapshot, visit the “Terms & Measures” tab.)
The CT APCD is updated quarterly and includes claims from the following major healthcare payers:
- Commercial insurers: 2012 – forward
- Medicare Fee-for-Service: 2012 – forward
- Medicare Advantage, operated by commercial insurers: 2012 – forward
- Medicaid: 2015 – forward (Please note that Medicaid data is not included in the CT APCD Snapshot. Future availability of information on this data is pending approval.)
Note: Similar to most APCD states, claims data from Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) or self-insured employer commercial plans are not included in the CT APCD.
