Recovering and Rebuilding Connecticut Agriculture

The Connecticut Department of Agriculture (CT DoAg), through funding provided by the USDA, is administering the Connecticut Farm Recovery & Support Block Grant Program to assist agricultural producers impacted by eligible weather events in 2023 and 2024. The program provides financial assistance to help Connecticut farms recover from documented losses and restore operations.

Available Assistance

Producers may be eligible for support through one or more of the following programs:

Crop Production Loss – Assistance for eligible crop revenue losses resulting from qualifying weather events.
Infrastructure Loss – Assistance for damage to agricultural structures and farm infrastructure.
Future Economic Loss – Assistance for perennial crop losses that result in multiple years of lost production while crops are replanted and reach maturity.

Who May Be Eligible?

Connecticut agricultural producers who:

Experienced eligible weather-related losses during 2023 and/or 2024;
Can document those losses, and
Meet program eligibility requirements.

Eligibility and payment amounts vary by program category.

Minimum Loss Threshold: Each program has a $500 minimum loss threshold. Producers must have experienced at least $500 in eligible losses within a program category to apply for assistance under that category.

What Producers Should Do Now

While the application portal is being finalized, producers are encouraged to:

Review the program categories to determine which may apply to their operation.
Begin gathering records and documentation related to losses.
Monitor this website for application announcements and program updates.
Submit questions through the program email inbox.

Documents Every Applicant Will Need

Regardless of which program category you apply under, all applicants should be prepared to provide the following when the portal opens:

W-9 Form
CT Certificate of Legal Existence
FSA Farm Number, if applicable
Tax Parcel ID and physical address for each associated property
IRS Schedule F (Form 1040) or other documentation as approved by CT DoAg, for applicable years
