Far below normal precipitation has caused a drought and increased fire danger levels. All of Connecticut is currently in a Stage 2 Drought Advisory. An emergency burn ban remains in effect at all state parks, forests, and wildlife management areas, prohibiting the use of all outdoor grills, firepits, campfires, etc.

CONNECTICUT FOUNDATION FOR OPEN GOVERNMENT, INC.,
HIGH SCHOOL ESSAY CONTEST WINNER

The Connecticut Foundation for Open Government has announced the winners of its 2002 High School Essay Contest.

The first prize of $1000 went to Tait Nielsen of Housatonic Valley Regional High School, Falls Village.

Second prize of $500 went to Stephanie O'Neil of Bristol Central High School, Bristol.

Third prize of $300 went to Matt Chapin of Housatonic Valley Regional Highs School, Falls Village.
