The newly revised CSDE Foundational Skills for Evaluators of Teachers training is designed to concentrate on the evaluator’s capacity to observe and analyze teacher performance and practice inherent in the CT Common Core of Teaching (CCT) and to provide supportive, high quality feedback to teachers.

The federal McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act requires all school districts to ensure access to public education for children and youth experiencing homelessness and ensure success in school once enrolled.
Most of the following Connecticut schools and districts are members of the League of Innovative Schools (LIS) and are engaged in Mastery-Based Learning. LIS is a regional professional learning community for secondary schools committed to educational equity, student-centered learning and ongoing improvement.

Healthy Food Certification (HFC)
Healthy Food Certification (Section 10-215f of the Connecticut General Statutes) requires that each board of education or governing authority for all public schools participating in the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) must certify annually to the Connecticut State Department of Education whether the district will follow the Connecticut Nutrition Standards for all foods sold to students separately from reimbursable school meals.
Special Diets in CACFP Child Care Programs
Guidance on meeting the requirements of the federal nondiscrimination laws and U.S. Department of Agriculture regulations for meal modifications for children with special dietary needs in CACFP child care centers, at-risk afterschool care centers, emergency shelters, and family day care homes.
Special Diets in School Nutrition Programs
The Connecticut State Department of Education's (CSDE) Accommodating Special Diets in School Nutrition Programs provides information and guidance for the U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) school nutrition programs on providing meals for children with special dietary needs, based on federal laws and USDA regulations. School nutrition programs include the National School Lunch Program (NSLP), School Breakfast Program (SBP), Afterschool Snack Program (ASP) of the NSLP, Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program (FFVP), and Special Milk Program (SMP).
Curriculum and instruction, provided in a safe, supportive environment, offer meaningful, challenging learning for all students, and result in lifetime learning outcomes of skills, literacy, and ability to understand concepts and develop plans for lifetime physical activity and wellness.
