District Guidance for Developing an Advanced Course Participation Policy

Guidance on Advanced Course Participation

Any advanced course policy districts adopt must follow the Connecticut State Department of Education's District Guidance for Developing an Advanced Course Participation Policy.
  • Challenging curriculum statute 
    Read Connecticut General Statutes Section 10-221x, which seeks to ensure all students enroll in advanced courses or programs allowing them to earn college credit prior to graduation.
  • Enrollment criteria statute 
    Access Connecticut General Statutes Section 10-221w, which requires boards of education to adopt a policy on the eligibility for student enrollment in an advanced course or program.
  • Report on Dual Credit Expansion Efforts 
    The Report on Dual Credit Expansion Efforts summarizes CSDE's efforts to expand dual credit opportunities for students across the state. The report, submitted in January 2024 to the General Assembly, fulfills Section 32 of Public Act 23-167, An Act Concerning Transparency in Education.
