Commissioner Juthani's Passover message to DPH employees

Dear Colleagues,

In the Jewish faith, the holiday of Passover begins Monday, April 22, at sunset. Passover (in Hebrew "Pesach") is an eight-day (through April 30) commemoration of the Israelites’ exodus from ancient Egypt and their transition from slavery to freedom. It is a time when families and communities gather for the Seder, a ritual meal that retells the story of the “Exodus” and includes a plate of symbolic foods that serve as a reminder of hardships endured and the hope for a brighter future.

The spirit of this holiday teaches us all that with faith, the largest desert can be crossed and that we should never lose hope. Whether you and your family celebrate Passover or not, we can all take this opportunity to reflect on our own life journeys, while renewing our commitment to freedom, justice, and compassion for all. Wishing you and your loved ones a joyous and meaningful Passover. Chag Sameach!

Sincerely,
Commissioner Juthani
