Commissioner Dr. Manisha Juthani's July 4th employee message

7/04/2024

Dear Colleagues,

I want to wish all of you a happy and safe Fourth of July. This is a special holiday and milestone; a time to celebrate with family and friends, our country’s hard-won independence, and the value of living in a democracy. It also marks the midpoint of our year and the height of the summer activity season.

July 4th, 1776, was the date the Declaration of Independence was signed, and the United States of America was formalized as an independent nation. Like generations before us, we continue to honor the freedom and liberty we are so lucky to enjoy. Long before national independence was declared, in 1639, the Connecticut colony adopted the Fundamental Orders, the first written constitution of a democratic government. This independent spirit earned Connecticut the nickname of “The Constitution State.”

At lot has changed since those early days of our history. Our state and country are more diverse in so many ways, and at DPH, we work every day to advocate for the health of all people, no matter their background. I appreciate the unique and powerful individual voice we all have the opportunity to add to the mosaic of our country. Once again, please enjoy a safe and healthy Fourth of July holiday.

Sincerely,

Commissioner Juthani
