Hartford – The Connecticut Department of Public Health (DPH) today confirmed 22 new cases of novel H1N1 flu (swine flu) among Connecticut residents.

 

Positive results for H1N1 flu were confirmed today at the department’s Public Health Laboratory for residents of Bridgeport, Darien, Easton, North Granby, Ridgefield, Waterbury, and Wilton.

 

A total of 81 confirmed cases have now been identified among Connecticut residents. Among the 81 cases, ages range from 3 to 56 (average 17 years); 42 are female and 39 are male.  Cases are from the following counties: Fairfield, 61; Hartford, 8; Litchfield, 1; Middlesex, 1; New Haven, 8; and New London, 2.

 

None of the cases were hospitalized.  Cases have been confirmed in the following towns: Bridgeport (1), Danbury (1), Darien (9), Derby (1), Easton (7), Fairfield (12), Glastonbury (1), Granby (1), Greenwich (3), Hamden (1), Hartford (1), Manchester (3), Middlefield (1), New Haven (1), North Granby (1), Norwalk (1), Old Saybrook (1), Pawcatuck (1), Redding (2), Ridgefield (17), Southbury (1), Stamford (2), Stratford (1), Trumbull (1), Waterbury (4), Wethersfield (1), Wilton (4) and Woodbury (1).

 

DPH continues to ask residents to take precautions to prevent getting the flu or spreading it by staying home from work or school if they are sick, washing their hands frequently, and coughing or sneezing into their sleeve or a tissue.
