PREPARING A SPECIAL PROVISION

Special Provision template instructions

1. Use "Times New Roman" Font.

2. Use "SpecHead1+14PT" Font Style for the title of Special Provision in Bold, Size 14 Text.

3. Use "SpecHead2" Font Style for sub-title or articles of the Special Provision, Size 12 or smaller.

4. Use "Normal" Font Style for the body of Special Provisions, Size 12 or smaller.

5. Update Header with current revision date.

6. Update Footer at noted location with Notice to Contractor, General or Item Number (ALL CAPS).

Detailed Instructions for creating a new Owned Special Provision using the template.

  1. Click the Owned Special Provision Template link at the bottom of the page
  2. Open the Special Provision Template file in Microsoft Word
  3. Press Ctrl + End
  4. Enter desired text in Special Provision using the appropriate format
  5. Change Header and Footer data (Date and Item Number/General)
    • Double-click on the word GENERAL
    • Type Either Notice to contractor, Section number, or ITEM plus Item number (ex. NOTICE TO CONTRACTOR, SECTION 1.20 OR ITEM #0999999A - ALL CAPS
  6. Find each Special Provision heading and change it to the appropriate format
    • Select desired heading (by highlighting)
    • Click Format/Style
    • Selectappropriate Style(SpecHead1 should be used for Title of Special Provision and SpecHead2 should be used for Sub-Title or Article of Special Provision.)
    • Click Apply
    • Repeat for eachheading
  7. Click File/Save As
    • Type desired corresponding name (ex: NTC – Use of State Police Officer, 1.08.03 – Prosecution and Progress, 0520036A – Asphaltic Plug joint)
    • Once the word files for the special provisions are finalized, follow the instructions in the Digital Project Development Manual (DPDM) for the location in SharePoint where these files are to be uploaded.
    • Click Save
  8. Click File/Print
