The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) will conduct a virtual public information meeting concerning the replacement of Bridge No. 04600 carrying Woodchuck Hill Road over Little River and Bridge No. 05413 carrying Tracy Road over Kitt Brook in Canterbury on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at 7:00 p.m.

The virtual public information meeting is being held to provide the public and local community the opportunity to offer comments or ask questions regarding the proposed project. The meeting will take place on Zoom, and registration is required. A question and answer (Q&A) session will immediately follow the presentation, which will be recorded. “These projects will replace two existing bridges with longer single-span structures to improve safety and extend the lifespan of both bridges,” said Connecticut Department of Transportation Project Manager Marc Byrnes. “We encourage the public to attend this meeting to share their feedback with the CTDOT project team to incorporate into the design.”

There are right-of-way impacts associated with the proposed improvements in the form of temporary construction easements to provide areas for construction activities.

Construction is anticipated to begin in spring 2026 based on the availability of funding, acquisition of rights of way, and approval of permit(s). The estimated construction cost for Project No. 0022-0107 is approximately $2.095 million. The estimated construction cost for Project No. 0022-0108 is approximately $1.55 million. This project is anticipated to be undertaken with 80% federal funds and 20% state funds.
