The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) will conduct a virtual public information meeting concerning the Rehabilitation of Bridge No. 01164 carrying South Street over I-84 on March 5, 2024, at 7:00 p.m.
The virtual public information meeting is being held to provide the public and local community the opportunity to offer comments or ask questions regarding the proposed project. The meeting will take place on Zoom, and registration is required. A question and answer (Q&A) session will immediately follow the presentation, which will be recorded. “This project will correct structural deficiencies of the existing pin and hanger assemblies and will replace the existing reinforced concrete deck”, said Francisco Fadul. “We encourage the public to attend this meeting to share their feedback with the CTDOT project team to incorporate into the design.”
The purpose of the project is to rehabilitate Bridge No. 01164, which carries South Street over I-84. The rehabilitation will correct structural deficiencies of the existing pin and hanger assemblies, replace the existing reinforced concrete deck, and repair/strengthen structural steel. The Maintenance and Protection of Traffic and Construction Sequencing are considering site access from I-84, and a detour of South Street for bridge work.
Right-of-way impacts associated with the proposed project are not anticipated.
Construction is anticipated to begin in Spring 2026 based on the availability of funding, acquisition of rights of way, and approval of permit(s). The estimated construction cost for this project is approximately $ 10.5 million. This project is anticipated to be undertaken with 80 percent Federal funds and 20 percent State funds.
