The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) will conduct a virtual public information meeting concerning the Replacement of Bridge No. 05263, Sand Road over West Aspetuck River in the Town of New Milford on Thursday, March 2, 2023, at 7 p.m. The meeting will take place on Zoom and registration is required. A Question and Answer (Q&A) session will immediately follow the presentation. The presentation will be recorded. The Virtual Public Information Meeting is being held to allow the public and local community to offer comments or ask questions regarding the proposed project.

The project’s purpose is to replace the existing bridge exhibiting structural deficiencies. There are right-of-way impacts associated with the proposed project. Temporary easements are anticipated on both sides of the roadway to accommodate the anticipated construction activities and slope easements for excavation and grading.

Construction is anticipated to begin in spring 2025 based on the availability of funding, acquisition of rights of way, and approval of permits. The estimated construction cost for this project is approximately $2.5 million. The project, identified as State Project No. 0095-0258, is anticipated to be undertaken with eighty percent (80%) Federal funds and twenty percent (20%) State funds.

Language assistance is provided at no cost to the public, and efforts will be made to respond to timely requests for assistance. 

This meeting will also be live streamed on the CTDOT YouTube channel; no registration is required. Non-English language closed captioning will be available on Zoom and YouTube.
