The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) will conduct a public information meeting concerning the replacement of Bridge No. 00293 carrying I-395 over Bishop Crossing Road in Griswold on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at 7:00 p.m. at Griswold Town Hall, 28 Main Street, Griswold. 

The public information meeting is being held to provide the public and local community the opportunity to offer comments or ask questions regarding the proposed project. A question and answer (Q&A) session will immediately follow the presentation, which will be recorded. “The project will replace the existing bridge using a reinforced soil foundation substructure known as GRS-IBS,” said Connecticut Department of Transportation Project Manager Ken-Taro Plude. “Using GRS-IBS is an efficient, cost-effective method of bridge support that blends the roadway into the superstructure to create a jointless interface between the bridge and approach. We encourage the public to attend this meeting to learn more and share their feedback with the CTDOT project team.”

Construction is anticipated to begin in spring 2026 based on funding availability, acquisition of rights of way, and approval of permit(s). The estimated construction cost for this project is approximately $10.2 million. This project is anticipated to be undertaken with 90% federal funds and 10% state funds
