The virtual public information meeting is being held to provide the public and local community the opportunity to offer comments or ask questions regarding the proposed project. The meeting will take place on Zoom and registration is required. A question and answer (Q&A) session will immediately follow the presentation. The presentation will be recorded.

The Route 1 Bridge, originally constructed in 1973, has exceeded its lifespan. This project will replace the bridge in accordance with state and federal design standards,” said Connecticut Department of Transportation Project Manager Francisco Fadul. “We encourage the public to attend this meeting to share their feedback with the CTDOT project team to incorporate into the design.”

The purpose of the project is to address structural deficiencies of Bridge No. 02572 by designing a replacement bridge that meets current design standards and provides a structure that accommodates safe travel for all vehicular traffic.

Right-of-way impacts associated with the proposed project are not anticipated.

Construction is anticipated to begin in the spring of 2025 based on the availability of funding, acquisition of rights of way, and approval of permit(s). The estimated construction cost for this project is approximately $17 million. This project is anticipated to be undertaken with 80 percent (80%) federal funds and 20 percent (20%) state funds
