Installations and Revisions of Traffic Control Signals in Wethersfield and Rocky Hill

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is developing plans to replace existing traffic control signal equipment with new equipment to meet current standards at 19 locations in Wethersfield and Rocky Hill. At applicable locations, pedestrian control features (countdown pedestrian indications, accessible pushbuttons, sidewalk ramps) will be upgraded as applicable in an effort to improve accessibility and pedestrian safety. CTDOT will coordinate with the Towns during the design phase. The following intersections are included in Project 0118-0187:

  • 159-219 – Wethersfield – Route 99 at Route 314 (Jordan Lane)
  • 159-243 – Wethersfield – Route 99 at Cumberland Avenue
  • 159-220 – Wethersfield – Route 99 at SR 422 (Nott Street)
  • 159-209 – Wethersfield – Route 99 at Church Street
  • 159-221 – Wethersfield – Route 99 at Beaver Road and Silas Deane Middle School
  • 159-222 – Wethersfield – Route 99 at Route 175 (Wells Road)
  • 159-202 – Wethersfield – Route 3 at Route 287 (Prospect St)
  • 159-203 – Wethersfield – Route 99 at Route 3 (Maple Street)
  • 159-204 – Wethersfield – Route 3 at Middletown Avenue and Spring Street
  • 159-246 – Wethersfield – Route 99 at Wethersfield Shopping Center
  • 159-206 – Wethersfield – Route 99 at Mill Street
  • 159-237 – Wethersfield – Route 99 at Goff Brook Shops Driveway
  • 159-235 – Wethersfield – Route 99 at Executive Square
  • 118-209 – Rocky Hill – Route 99 at Town Line Road
  • 118-233 – Rocky Hill – Route 99 at I-91 Southbound Ramps
  • 118-214 – Rocky Hill – Route 99 at I-91 Northbound Ramps
  • 118-213 – Rocky Hill – Route 99 at Marshal Road and Waterchase Drive

It is CTDOT policy to keep the public informed and involved when such projects are undertaken. It is important that the community share its concerns with us to assist in the project’s development. At this time, it is anticipated that an informational meeting or formal public hearing will not be necessary.

The design plans for these projects are expected to be completed in July 2024 with a tentative advertising date for construction of October 2024.
