Installations and Revisions of Traffic Control Signals in Various Towns

The Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is developing plans to upgrade existing traffic control signal equipment or install new traffic control signal equipment to meet current standards at 15 locations in the cities and/or towns of Clinton, Griswold, Groton, Mansfield, Montville, North Stonington, Norwich, Portland, Stonington, and Waterford.  At applicable locations, pedestrian control features (countdown pedestrian indications, accessible pushbuttons, sidewalk ramps) will be upgraded to improve accessibility and pedestrian safety. CTDOT will coordinate with the city/town during the design phase.

057-202 – Griswold – Route 12 at Route 138 & Railroad Ave

058-205 – Groton – Route 12 at Walker Hill & Toll Gate Rds. 

058-207 – Groton – Route 12 at Crystal Lake Rd 

077-233 – Mansfield – Route 6 at EB Off-Ramp & SR 633 & Mansfield City Rd 

077-236 – Mansfield – Route 632 at Mansfield City Rd 

077-239 – Mansfield – Route 632 at Conantville Rd & US 6 WB ramp 

085-222 – Montville – Route 32 at Massapeag Rd 

101-207 – North Stonington – Route 2 at Rt 201 (Mains Crossing) 

103-243 – Norwich – Route 165 (Hamilton) at Smith Ave 

103-265 – Norwich – Route 642 (West Town St.) at Rt 2 EB Ramps

It is CTDOT’s policy to keep the public informed and involved when such projects are undertaken. It is important that the community share its concerns with us to assist in the project’s development. At this time, it is anticipated that an informational meeting or formal public hearing will not be necessary. 

The design plans for this project are expected to be completed in May 2025 with a tentative advertising date of July 2025.
